If I bleach my hair?

I already have blond hair, but I want to bleach it. If I do, what are the chances of damaging it? Can I ever dye it again? Do you think that this is a bad idea? I have had ppl tell me that it can seriously damage your hair?

Thanks!

Any chemical application to the hair causes a certain amount of damage, especially if repeated frequently. Color applications add to the hair and bleach applications take away from the hair (strip). There are tons of products on the market to help maintain the health of your hair if you should need them. Just ask your stylist. I would do it, it is refreshing to change your hair color and/or style. You can dye it again, there are people who change their hair color several times a year. If doing at home, follow the instructions included with your product, over processing will definately damage your hair. Have fun.

considering you already have blonde hair you should be fine, just make sure it is done professionally! Do not leave the bleach in too long and just dont frequently bleach your hair. I know you will be fine because I have dark brown hair and i bleached mine it was not fried it still looks and feels soft. I'm sure your hair will be fine and it will look great! goodluck!

You're going to "damage" it, no question about that but you can minimize the damage by being careful and using good bleach techniques and lots of TLC afterwards. Something you could do is slowly lighten it once or twice a month so that by the time spring/summer is here it would be bleach blonde and it would be gradual not so shocking? By the way, it's your hair so don't worry about what people think!

If you already have blonde hair then it wont take a lot of power to lift your hair, therefore your stylist will probably use a 10 vol. developer, causing less damage. You will always have some damage with any chemical process, BUT it is not always noticable. Sometimes its so little that you cannot even tell. My suggestion would be to definatly have this professionally done, then ask your stylist to recommend a good conditioner for your hair(as everyones hair is different and needs certain conditioners and shampoos). As long as you take care of it afterwards and wait at least 6 weeks between chemical processes, you should be fine.
